Your wedding stories – A rustic, fun and colourful celebration

This wedding story is of Jo, Phil and Emerald. In June 2022, Jo called me only a couple months out from their wedding in need of On the Day Coordination for their day on 24th July 2022. The venue was the lovely Oak Barn, Frame Farm in East Sussex, but it was a wedding with complicated logistics and lots of suppliers.

Jo had been wedding planning herself, but with the venue being a dry hire only meant there was a lot to think; the usual things like cake, caterers and flowers down to furniture, fridges, ice and in this case catering equipment hire too, so she felt like help was needed so she could relax and know it was taken care of.

As part of the On the Day Coordination service I touch base with all suppliers and review plans. There were a lot of suppliers including caterers Mike & Ollie, two furniture companies Village Vintage and Little Wedding Warehouse, a staffing company, catering equipment company, florist Moody Blooms , fridge company, ice company, bouncy castle supplier, slushy machine supplier ( frozen margaritas anyone!) and entertainment.

Jo and Phil stayed on site at the picturesque Frame Farm with the bridal party, family and their beautiful 6-month-old daughter Emerald, we had access to set up some elements the day before which we did. The wedding day started with finishing set up and managing a few more deliveries. On the day coordination when the bride is on site always means checking in and making sure they are okay too while she was getting hair and make-up done by Gemma Souter. With baby Emerald Jo was busy enough with to having to worry that it was all set up okay.

The ceremony took place in the beautiful Oak barn. They had nice personal touches in the ceremony including walking in together as a family of three (I loved this!) and then personal readings by friends. After the ceremony everyone then headed outside for a confetti photo. The ceremony space then required a big change round into the wedding breakfast while the drink reception took place outside the Byre Barn. While guests were taking in the stunning countryside views there was music, cocktails, canapés and a bouncy castle for kids (and adults!) to enjoy.

The team were all hands-on deck, transforming the Oak Barn into the rustic, colourful wedding breakfast Jo had envision from the start. The guests were then welcomed back in for a fun, sharing family style feast. After the dinner and lovely speeches, guests made their way to Pole Barn (which was earlier set up with hay bales, vintage sofas, and rugs) for a music gig, in which three of the couples talented friends played and/or sang music. This was super personal for the couple and a nice touch, everyone really enjoyed this part of the day. While the gig was taking place the main barn was once again turned around for the evening party and set for the DJs to continue playing until the end of night.

The venue is in the country and the coach company cancelled on Jo & Phil the week before, so I helped Jo organise various taxi companies, so the last part of the evening I was making sure the guests end up in the right taxis going to the right places. The whole wedding day was captured perfectly by Emis Photography.

This was a great wedding to be part of and I really enjoyed making sure this family had a lovely day and all of Jo’s hard work planning such a logistically complicated wedding had paid off. Thank you for putting your trust in me Jo and Phil, wishing you all the best for the future.
