MY JOURNEY TO WEDDING PLANNING
Here’s a little bit of my story to help you decide if I’m the right person to help you tell yours…

I started my adult life dreaming of the stage, studying Theatre Arts at a well-known drama school. But partway through, I realised my heart was behind the scenes—making the magic happen. That shift led me to complete a degree in Arts and Event Management at Bournemouth University, where I graduated in 2012. A standout moment? An unforgettable internship in New York City with the production agency behind the Tribeca Film Festival.

Since then, I’ve worked in the events industry across a wide range of celebrations—corporate events, gala dinners, luxury parties, and of course, weddings—alongside a high-end London catering company. I completely fell in love with weddings. And when I planned my own in 2017—a joyful, personal day filled with unforgettable memories—I knew I wanted to help others experience the same feeling.

I went on to complete a Diploma in Wedding and Event Planning and Design, and Your Story Events was born.
​
My mission is to tell each couple’s story and create a magical day that reflects who they are with intentional story-led design —while making the planning experience feel joyful, calm, and enjoyable. I know exactly what it’s like to be in your shoes. With over 13 years in the events industry, I’ve gained invaluable insight working on events for anywhere between 20 and 500 guests. I now plan and design weddings and special celebrations across London, the Home Counties, and throughout the UK.

My family – I live in a little village in Buckinghamshire, with my Husband, two daughters and cat called Tilly

I love traveling and exploring the world – one of my most amazing adventures was climbing Mount Kilimanjaro

I love getting stuck in a good novel, sometimes romance, sometimes a mystery

The theatre bug hasn’t completely gone, I love going to see a good musical, it always makes me happy

I enjoy practicing body balance to relax – it’s a mix between Pilates, Yoga and Tai chi

I do love a night out with my friends including cocktails and dancing, though I must admit these are quite rare nowadays!

I love spending Sundays with my family, either on a walk or having a Sunday roast in a local pub with a glass of wine

HAPPY COUPLES
We have had so many compliments on our wedding venue, food and band, none of which would have been possible without Mel's organisation and creativity. I lived abroad at the time of organising the wedding, and so put many of the decisions entirely in Mel's hands. She did not disappoint and I trusted her judgement completely. Mel created a really magical New Year's Eve wedding that I could not have imagined without her. She was great to work with, and made the whole process really fun and easy. I would recommend Mel for any event, if you want to create something really special and enjoy the process!
