Planning a wedding in London is undeniably exciting — but it’s also a huge undertaking. With endless supplier options, ever-growing Pinterest boards, and logistics you didn’t even know existed, it’s no wonder so many couples choose to bring in a professional wedding planner to guide the way.
But one of the first questions we’re always asked is: how much does a wedding planner actually cost? So today, we’re demystifying the numbers and explaining exactly what you can expect to invest — and why.
What Does a Wedding Planner Actually Do?

Before we talk about fees, let’s talk about value and clarify what a full-service wedding planner offers. A professional planner is your sounding board, your logistics lead, your creative collaborator, problem solver, and trusted confidante — all rolled into one. At Your Story Events, we’re with you from the very first venue visit right through to the final farewell managing every detail so you can actually enjoy the process. We handle timelines, budgets, supplier recommendations, design and styling, RSVPs, logistics, and on-the-day coordination — all tailored to your priorities.
The result? A beautifully bespoke, stress-free planning journey and a wedding day with your story at the heart of every decision.
How Much Does a London Wedding Planner Cost?
In London and all around the UK, full-service wedding planning typically costs between 10–15% of your total wedding budget. This is a guide that reflects the scale, complexity, and level of support required to bring your celebration together — and to keep it running seamlessly on the day.
However, many planners (including us) also work to a minimum fee this can vary between planners, but could be anything from £7,000 - £15,000, as there's a base level of time, experience, and service that goes into every wedding, no matter the budget. At Your Story Events, our full planning service starts from £8,000 as our minimum fee.
Why a Percentage Fee?

You might be wondering: why do most planners charge a percentage, rather than a flat fee?
The simple answer is that a higher wedding budget often comes with a more complex celebration. More suppliers, more design elements, more guests, multiple events, layered logistics — all of this means significantly more planning time, communication, and coordination behind the scenes.
A percentage-based fee reflects the scale and work involved, while still remaining proportional and reasonable to you. But here’s the most important thing to know: no planner should ever encourage you to spend more than you're comfortable with. It’s your celebration, your money, and your decisions. We’re here to guide you with honesty and clarity — not to upsell or push you into choices that don’t feel right.
We’ll always work within the budget you set, help you prioritise what matters most, and ensure you’re getting value at every step.
What About Fixed Fees?
Some planners offer a fixed fee model instead — often for specific services like partial planning, wedding day management, or planning smaller events such as elopements or intimate weddings.
This can work well when the scope of the celebration is clear and contained, or if you’re only looking for support in a particular area. At Your Story Events, we offer tailored packages when full planning isn’t quite the right fit — so if you're not sure which level of service is best for you, we're always happy to chat it through.
Is It Worth It?
We might be biased… but absolutely. Your wedding is one of the biggest moments of your life — and when you're investing so much into it, why wouldn't you want the expert guidance? A professional planner doesn’t just ensure everything runs smoothly — they elevate the entire experience. They free up your time, bring calm to the chaos, add value and expertise and allow you to fully enjoy the process with confidence and excitement.
And when your guests are still raving about your wedding years down the line? That’s the magic we’re here for.
